This past weekend was our Louisiana Chapter first deer hunt of the season. With 5 young men and mentors we hit the woods for a great time in God’s Creation. Friday evening we got things started with some dinner and some man time around the fire. The man time around the fire is always a good time to have some conversation about what God has been doing in our lives since our last programs. It was some great conversation among mentors and boys. After man time and some pre deer hunting talk we got settled in and hit the bed for the night. Saturday morning came early as everyone was up and ready to get in the stand before daylight. All of our mentors and young men pairings headed for their stand and were settled in before first light. It didn’t take long for the deer movement to start. Hunter Thompson caught movement at day break and was able to connect on his very first deer! Word quickly spread through the group via text message and everyone wondered who would be next. It wasn’t long after another shot rang out and Brock had downed the second deer of the morning. It was a great morning for hunting and for sharing and creating bonds in the deer stand. After the morning hunt and taking care of the deer and photo ops we shared lunch prepared by Mandy Rivers and one of our mentors Scot Martin shared a devotional about God’s voice and how we hear it that challenged us all. We got settled back in the
woods for the afternoon hunt but showers and thunderstorms ran us out before we could complete it.
Another great program as we continued to build relationships, share in God’s Word, and spend time enjoy His creation. We pray that God will use these times to grow us and draw us closer to Him.
