Over this past weekend our Georgia Chapter held its annual squirrel hunt.  It was a great weekend program as we are geared up and ready for God is going to do through these programs and mentors in the lives of these young men from single parent and fatherless homes.  Friday night we kicked everything off with overnight in the Church of the Vine gymnasium.  We had 17 young men from single parent homes join us for this program.  We had a great dinner prepared and served by Carrie Davis and Leslie Brooks.  After dinner we settled in and heard a challenging devotional from mentor Don Brooks.  He spoke on using our spiritual weapons of the Holy Spirit, Salvation, Prayer, and the Bible to help fight and guard our hearts and minds against the Satan.  Afterwards we had the opportunity to present one of our boys Daniel Jackson with his deer head from his deer hunt back in the fall.  the story of his first deer made the February issue of GON as well and you can read it HERE.  Shortly after some free time for Man Hunt and some Basketball we hit the bed.

Saturday morning we woke up early to a pancake and sausage breakfast.  After we cleaned up we headed out to the property of the Wallace family of Adventure Outdoors.  They hosted our squirrel hunt and it was a great day.  After some instruction and pairing up with mentors we were all shuttled into the woods.  Soon after everyone getting settled, we began to hear shots, and more shots.  Some were shooting to have some fun and others were shooting for the bushy tails!  We had a couple of groups get a squirrel, but all in all it was a great morning in the woods spending time and building relationships with our small groups of mentors and boys.  After the hunt we enjoyed an awesome dutch oven lunch prepared by Tom and Senga Veale.  It was great!  We finished off the day with a little pickup football game before heading home.

Our Louisiana and South Carolina Chapters will be kicking off their year of outdoor ministry the next weekends and we look forward to sharing and seeing God move and work in those programs as well.  Please continue to pray for our programs this year and that above all God will use them to draw our boys and mentors closer to Him through His creation.
