Over this past weekend our Georgia Chapter held it’s annual River Tubing Program. We beat the heat of summer and took a nice cool float down the Etowah River. Our program started overnight Friday at our camp facility in Dallas, GA. Once all the boys arrived and got settled in we enjoyed a great Italian Pasta Dinner prepared by Leslie Brooks. It was a great meal and all the mentors and boys enjoyed it. Shortly after dinner Program Director Don Brooks led an interactive devotional that really challenged us and showed us that no matter what our situation, we are not alone in the things we are going through and how God can forgive and you can rest in His peace. After the devotional the some the boys tested their strength by splitting some firewood while other boys caught up on some man hunt. We capped the night off with some cards and then hit the bed.
On Saturday we woke up early, got cleaned up, and ready to hit the river. Before leaving we enjoyed a french toast breakfast casserole, again prepared by Leslie Brooks, and then headed to the river. We were back at Euharlee Creek Outfitters this year and they took great care of us. We were on the river by 9:00am and floating with tubes and kayaks. We floated down the river, swimming from the tubes, throwing balls back and forth and even a couple beach balls. It was a great time to have some fellowship with our boys, and spend time building those relationships between them and our mentors. We finished up around 12:00pm and met Leslie at the take out point for some lunch. After lunch we talked about leadership and how to be a leader in our programs, the community, at home, and school. We challenged the boys to step up and work hard as the new school year is approaching. We packed up and headed out after a great day on the river.
This was another great program with young men from single parent homes at our Georgia Chapter. We have some great mentors that give up their weekend to come out and be a part of these young men’s lives. God continues to use this ministry and His Creation to draw us all to Him. Thank you for your continued prayers for our programs, boys, and mentors. You can check out all the pictures below.
