This past weekend Georgia Program Director, Don Brooks, and his team, kicked off our first 2017 Georgia Chapter program with our Annual Squirrel Hunt. We welcomed our two newest boys, Jackson and Jordan, on Friday night, as we enjoyed a campfire and a hot dog bar with all the trimmings served up by Carrie Davis and Leslie Brooks. Founder, Jeff Davis, shared a powerful devotion and true life story, challenging us not to wear “different hats,” changing the way we act based on the people around us. But, instead, to be real, to be who we are and to be who God created us to be, all the time, no matter what. Hot apple pie, free time and conversations around the fire followed before hitting the bunks.
Saturday morning came cold and early with temps in the 20’s. After a hearty breakfast, we headed out for Cedartown. Adventure Outdoors and the Wallace Family welcomed us in a huge and generous way on Saturday, with several surprises and gifts for the boys, as we explored and enjoyed their beautiful property. Our boys had no idea that the Wallace’s were waiting to treat them with rides in a Humvee, a Deuce and a Half and Raptors throughout the day. Suddenly they forgot about the cold weather and were men on a mission! The day did not end as well for a few squirrels as we enjoyed the woods and God’s Creation. We wrapped it up with a hot lunch on the grounds and some free time, warming up in the sun. Before we left, the Wallace Family gave each of our boys a personal gift. We were very touched at the thought and attention given to all of us while we were there.
Thank You to the Wallace Family and Adventure Outdoors for your support, generosity and sponsorship. God has truly blessed us through you and we are forever grateful to Him to allow us to partner with such amazing folks. 2017, here we come!
Please continue to pray over all of our boys, mentors, and programs in all of locations Georgia, Louisiana, and South Carolina. We are praying for God to make His presence known in a mighty way to these young men from single parent and fatherless homes. You can check out all the pictures by using the link below.
