This past weekend our South Carolina Chapter held its Spring Camp Out led by Program Director Matt Hellman.  God provided us with great weather, great fellowship, and some awesome young men and mentors for the weekend program.  Friday evening all the mentors and boys got together at our new camp facility provided to us by the Hall family.  The Hall family has been very gracious and generous to allow our South Carolina Chapter to call their property home.  We got the rods and reels rigged up and did a little twilight fishing before enjoying a hot dog lunch.  Niko, one of our young men, was dubbed the bream whisperer becasue we lost count on how many he caught over the weekend.  It was a new South Carolina Chapter record!  We enjoyed some time by the camp fire, rode the mule around the property, and tried our hand at some frog gigging with no luck before hitting the bed Friday evening.

Saturday morning we all got up and had a great breakfast before getting the day underway.  We were able to get the kayaks out and we took the time to reflect on how good God has been to our Truth in Nature Chapter here in Columbia.  Program Director Matt Hellman led a devotional on who we associate with as we have young men turning 18 soon and young men entering high school in the fall.  It was a great Word on associating ourselves with God and His will for our life.  We also took the time to put up a cross at the entrance to the camp facility and hold a prayer over the property.  The cross was provided courtesy of our Louisiana Chapter and was presented to Matt Hellman at the mentor retreat back in March.  The boys helped get the cross ready and attached to the post.  Mentor William prayed over the property and that God would use it to further the mission of Truth in Nature in the Northeast Columbia community.  Soon afterwards we cleaned up and headed home.

This was another great program in God’s Creation with young men from fatherless and single parent homes.  Please continue to specifically lift up our mentors and that God will use them to draw these young men closer to Him.
