This past weekend our Dallas, GA Chapter held its Annual Archery Challenge.  This is always a great way to end the summer and look forward to our fall programs.  We had a great turn out as Program Director Don Brook led this program.  Friday night began with a feast and dessert.  We welcomed two new mentors, Zach Fernandez and Josh Singh.  Shortly afterwards we had our devotion about the legacy we want to leave, the steps we take, and the choices we make in life in order for that to happen. We were very proud of our boys, who opened up some deep and thoughtful discussions during small group time. We ended the night with an intense Archery Trivia competition and then hit the bunks.

Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast.  Our boys and mentors broke into their groups and began at the practice range before heading out to eight stations set up on a unique archery course throughout our 110 acre Dallas camp. The prep work went into this during the July program where the boys and mentors cut trails and shooting lanes so that they could shoot from the elevated deer stands down towards the 3D targets.  For some of our boys, this was the very first time they had ever shot a bow. It was great to see all the boys participating, having fun and the older boys with archery experience taking the time to help and train the younger and less experienced.  We held a competition as we progressed through the stations.  We were proud of all the boys.  We end with lunch and presented the top 3 with their awards.

In our years of Archery Events, this was the most unique and challenging so far. We were blessed to be able to host it on our own property and special thanks to Bill Jones with Southeastern Trust for Parks and Land for helping make all of it possible.  A great weekend in God’s great outdoors, building relationships and drawing closer to Christ and each other. Above all, the hearts of our boys were the target.  Our prayer is that through these outdoor ministry programs God will use the time between mentors and boys to reach, inspire, support, and engage these young men for His Kingdom.  Please continue to keep all of our programs in your prayers as we move forward with current and future location to reach more young men from fatherless and single parent homes.  You can check out all the pictures by using in the link below.
