The month of May was a great month within Truth in Nature Programs.  We continue to be blessed with young men from fatherless homes and committed mentors to spend time with each other in His Creation during our programs.  Our new chapter in Newberry, MI (Program Director Jim Duflo) and LaGrange, GA (Program Director Jeff Benefield) each held their Open Houses to introduce this ministry and outreach to their respective communities.  These Open Houses were well attended and we signed up boys, mentors, and got to discuss potential opportunities with new potential ministry partners.  Jim Duflo was able to participate in a Spring Fling put on by a local church where a portion of the proceeds went to our programs there in Newberry.  Jeff Benefield was blessed with a donation from local church car wash fundraiser and Charter Bank presenting a grant award of $7500 for startup equipment and supplies for the chapter in LaGrange.  Both of these chapters are off to a great start.  We are holding our Open House for Apex, NC (Program Director Cory Bowes) next month in June to introduce these efforts to that community as well.  Cory began to get the word out with a prayer meeting with a newly formed ministry partner KING Movement.  We are excited about our new chapters and new communities as they continue to come on board to move closer to running programs in their communities for fatherless and single parent boys.

Each of our current chapters had a great month.  Our Dallas, GA Chapter held a Spring Fishing Program led by Program Director Don Brooks.  Partnering with Brian Stover of BLD Rolloff and his team, this was an overnight program where boys and mentors shared and bonded on Friday evening and then continued that around the fishing pond on Saturday.  Leslie Brooks, wife of Program Director Don, shared her heart on Friday with the boys on respect and how to treat women, including mom, and how to fill the insecurities of life with Jesus.  There were many fish caught, relationships strengthened, and bonding going on Saturday around the fishing pond.  Awards were given to Bobby (First Fish), Mark (Biggest Fish), and Corey (Most Fish) on the day.   In Bush, LA, Program Director Ronnie Alpha led a skeet and archery program with boys and mentors there.  The boys learned target archery, 3D archery, and skeet shooting.  This was an overnight where boys enjoyed squirrel stew, fellowship, and some great time around the campfire Friday evening.  As the program concluded Saturday, long time mentor Scot Martin wrapped up by sharing a devotional on Romans 8:18 and 8:37-39, both his daughter Emily and son Joshua favorite verses.  In Columbia, SC it was a rainy Explore & More Program, led by Program Director Rick Hall.  The boys and mentors spent the night at our camp facility in Elgin, SC.  Friday we kicked off the program with a great dinner and the start of our fishing tournament.  We concluded the evening with a campfire devotional time led by mentor Will Stroud, Matt Hellman, and Rick Hall on the recent school shootings and staying firm in your faith even during uncertain times.  The next day the rains came and instead of doing the Explore & More work, the boys and mentors took the program to the local indoor trampoline park where they enjoyed some fellowship before heading home for the day.  CJ was the winner of the fishing tournament and the laser tag competition.

At an organizational level Truth in Nature was able raise $31,000 at the Annual Ragsdale Heating, Air, & Plumbing and Adventure Outdoors Benefit Clay Shoot.  Our Dallas, GA Chapter also participated in the Paulding County Whitetails Unlimited Banquet where a portion of the proceeds benefited our programs there.  We want to take a minute and congratulate young men Victor Pounds (Louisiana Chapter) and Ian Hopkins (Dallas, GA Chapter) for graduating High School and our programs this year!

Please continue to keep all of our programs, leaders, and most of all young men in your prayers as we seek to Reach, Inspire, Support, and Engage them with the good news of Jesus Christ while spending time in His Creation.  Stay up to date with everything Truth in Nature via our Website, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram avenues or if you would like to help continue to make this a free resource for fatherless & single parent boys you can do so by visiting our Donate Page.
